To my mind two of the best artists to work on paper in recent times are Vija Celmins, whose delicate studies of stars and waves (above) have a deeply meditative quality, and Lucia Nogueira, who died tragically young in 1998, and whose drawings (below) stood out at this year's Watercolour show at Tate Britain.
